The new public equipment of the Vergers registers its four distinct volumes downstream of the Eco-neighbourhood of the same name. In a situation that must take into consideration a land fill induced by the excavation of the centralized car park and that contradicts the natural topography, the chosen option gives pride of place to the notion of porosity of the site. This pavilion layout also reflects a broader program that often defines the character of recent school buildings: a double gymnasium for competitions, an after-school building, including the school restaurant and the aula, as well as a specialized school. The urban composition by adding rectangles reminds us, through its abstraction, of certain post-war modernity campuses. The plans of the different levels offer a large part of the spaces for distribution, or even decompartmentalization, while taking into consideration the particularism of the precise affection of each volume. This shaping of the teaching space in the broad sense of the term makes it possible to enhance the visual relationships with the large landscape that characterizes the place. To meet the environmental requirements of this public commission, the reflection on structures and technology reveals an awareness and commitment of architects to normative constraints. Here the concrete edge of the envelope supports generous corridors and contributes to the subtle tension between the facades of the buildings, while offering possibilities to open up the classrooms widely and protect them from the elements. Windows can therefore be opened without the use of mechanization, which too often invades contemporary buildings that claim to be "ecological". Philippe Meier
